Inventorying Data Assets (FED 004)

Description
This webinar will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2020, at 1:00 pm CST.

Data is a strategic Federal asset. Knowing more about the data your agency collects makes your work more efficient and accountable, and eases reporting, decision-making, and performance optimization. One key way to harness this asset is through a data inventory.

So, what exactly does data inventorying entail? This webinar and the following Q&A session, led by the Centers for Civic Impact’s Futurist-at-Large, Andrew Nicklin, will introduce you to this important tool. You’ll learn about the ingredients for successful inventories and how to make them work for your needs, as well as relevant policies and supporting guidance. We’ll also talk about what happens once you have completed your first data inventory process.

For a foundational understanding of data inventories, you also may be interested in GovEx Academy’s self-guided online course, Getting Started with Data Inventorying.
